Daniel was a Jewish captive in Babylon but he was a very successful man. One of the secrets of his success apart from hard work and diligence was that he prayed to God, 3 times daily.
Some find it difficult to pray to God once a day, but Daniel prayed everyday three times daily. This was his habit and people took note of this; so much so that when they were looking for a way to find faults in him, they couldn’t fault him in the way he performed his duties because he was faultless in his work.
Daniel 6:3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. 6:4 Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. 6:5 Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
Our prayers to the Lord should be that when people try to look for faults in us , they won’t be able to find them in our work or dealings with others.
Though Daniel was a senior government official, yet he took time out to pray. His prayers did not make him lazy or affect the quality of the work he did. Rather they made him more successful.
Daniel kept praying even when it was not convenient for him to pray and when some men who were jealous of him tried to frame him up by tricking the King, God showed up mightily for him and vindicated him.
1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 4:14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 4:15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
The world may reject you, oppose you or overlook you because you are a Christian, but this should not trouble you as long as you’re doing what is right.
God gets no glory when a christian suffers for offences they committed, but if we suffer for the sake of Christ sometimes even for things we are innocent of, God is glorified.
So remember this when someone says hurtful things to you maliciously or lies about you; and you suffer it quietly because you are a Christian, it does not mean that you are weak, rather it makes you strong and it gives glory to the Lord.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Praise God!
